At the start of the summer season, we discussed an up and coming more natural trend, ‘Bronde’. On last weeks’ VMA’s we noticed an adaptation of this, combined with ombre; creating a new summer/autumnal trend. Introducing… Sombre!
What is Sombre?
Sombre is a far more delicate, natural approach to the classic ‘ombre’ look that has been popularly sponsored over the years by celeb names such as Miley Cyrus, Caroline Flack and Kylie Jenner… Out with the old and in with the new! Sombre is perhaps slightly less dramatic- however no less gorgeous and we think it’s the perfect look for the fast-approaching change of season. Much like Bronde and Ombre, Sombre relieves the hair of heavy peroxide and is therefore easier to maintain and manage. Showcased on the shoulders of numerous stars at the VMA’s, it’s the perfect match for you if you’re looking for an understated, sophisticated new look.
As demonstrated by Liz Hernandez and Lily Aldridge, Sombre is the perfect way to compliment a modest outfit by drawing attention to the face, contrasting beautifully with a black dress. Gigi Hadid went for a slightly different approach, teaching us all how to be brave (in the right way!) by complimenting her luscious locks with a dazzling yellow number- it all seems to work! Austin Butler also sported this look on the night with a black suit jacket and white shirt, if it works for him it works for us!
Get The Look
You may have already heard about SimplyHair’s selection of Ombre extensions, but have you heard about our new Mixed Colour hair extensions? By combining the two, you can easily craft this stunning new look! By blending our Mixed Colours in with our Ombre range and your own hair, its easy to create this soft transition. A great example of this is our 1b/6 dip dye, which can now be mixed with our 1b/6 mixed colour, creating a beautiful and effortless sombre look for your clients.
Maintaining your Sombre Look
Visually maintaining your sombre look is easy, there’s no need to worry about roots- roots make it work! The key here is to keep it all as gradual, subtle and as natural as possible. We all know that lightening darker hair will naturally weaken it- therefore by offering your clients sombre through the use of hair extensions instead of colouring their own hair this look can be achieved with no damage to the natural hair.
Just remember however that hair extensions need a little extra TLC, therefore washing with SimplyHair shampoo and conditioner and using a soft brush such as our hair extension brush to prevent tugging and tearing the hair will help to keep the hair extensions in great condition. Top tip- leave the conditioner to soak the ends of your extensions for a few minutes to achieve a silky smooth look.
