How To Fit Hair Tinsel

The popular trend of hair tinsel is back, and we're so here for it! We're even more buzzed about how easy it is to fit into someone's hair. We'll be bringing you the latest hair tinsel methods in this article, starting with Nanorings and Knot Tie-in.

Nano ring Method

  1. Start by slicing out a section of hair at the top of your clients head, just under the parting.
  2. Use around eight strands of tinsel and pull them into a loop - the more strands of tinsel, the more sparkles! Some clients may want a subtle look, and others may wish for full glam; we advise asking their preference beforehand.
  3. Clip the loop you just made above your section.
  4. Thread your nanorings onto a pulling needle and add some of your client's hair.
  5. Pull the hair and tinsel through the needle loop, then push up a ring to the top of the hair, pulling the needle out.
  6. Then use pliers to secure the ring and clamp the ring tight.
  7. Trim the top of the tinsel, above where it's clamped
  8. Move onto the next section and work your way around the head until you've covered all of it!
  9. Finally, trim the tinsel at the bottom to match your clients hair.

Knot Tie-In Method

  1. Start by slicing out a section of hair at the top of your clients head, just under the parting.
  2. The next step is to grab a 1-3 hair strands that we will use to tie the hair tinsel. We are using a heat protection flake to ensure no other strands of hair get in our way, but this is optional.
  3. Get a single strand of hair tinsel, create a loop and pull the ends of the tinsel through it to crease a loose knot
  4. Place the strands of hair into the knot and pull it tight, making sure you secure it as close to the scalp as you can get. If your client has fine/soft hair, you may have to double knot it.
  5. Move onto the next section and work your way around the head until you've covered all of it
  6. Finally, trim the tinsel at the bottom to match your clients hair
