Air Drying - Is It Safe For My Hair Extensions?
A question we are often asked is whether or not our hair extensions can be left to dry naturally rather than having to be blow dried after every wash. The answer to this question is not as simple as a yes or no, however by understanding when it is ok to dry your hair extensions naturally and when it is not, you will be able to adapt your hair extension routine to fit in with your lifestyle.
What Types Of Hair Extensions Are Suitable For Air Drying?
The type of hair extensions you wear will affect whether or not you can let your hair extensions air dry instead of using a hair-dryer. If you are wearing micro ring extensions, nano ring hair extensions, weft hair extensions it will be possible for you to let your hair extensions dry naturally, as the water should not have an impact on the integrity of the bond. If however you have opted for a fusion glue bond or tape hair extensions you will not be able to let your hair extensions dry naturally under any circumstances.
Why Can't I Let My Glue Hair Extension Bonds Air Dry?
If you were to let your hair extensions dry naturally, this would mean that the glue securing your hair extensions in place, be that utip bonds or tape, are left damp for a considerable amount of time. Hair Extensions Must Be Air Dried During The Day
If you have micro ring, nano ring, or weft hair extensions and are looking to air dry them, this should be done in day time hours only. After you have showered you will need to ensure that your hair extensions have been brushed thoroughly with a suitable hair extension brush, and you have separated all of the bonds. Part your hair where it would normally fall, and brush the hair so that it is sitting in a comfortable position, for example all of the hair pulled over to one side. Now that you are leaving it to dry you will need to prevent it from tangling in the mean time, so do not take a quick nap or relax on the sofa all day as the friction of your head rubbing against a surface can disturb the bonds. You will also want to be running you fingers through your hair and the bonds regularly to ensure that it stays neat and tidy.
Do Not Air Dry Hair Extensions Over Night
No matter what type of hair extensions you have, your hair should NEVER be air-dried over night. It is very important that your hair extensions have been prepared correctly before you sleep to ensure they are well looked after, and even hair that is slightly damp can cause tangling issues.
